UPA govt must callback military personnel from Lanka
Chennai, Sep 11 (UNI) Marumalarchi DMK (DMDK) today charged that the Congress led UPA government at the Centre was responsible and accountable for the loss of lives of Tamils in Sri Lanka and urged it to call back technicians and military personnel assisting the Lankan military.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr Vaiko, accusing the UPA government of deliberately giving all support to the ''racist'' Lankan government with a diabolical design to betray the Tamils, demanded to stop forthwith any sort of military assistance direct or indirect.
Referring to reports that India was assisting the Lankan military to set up radars and providing military assistance, he charged ''the UPA government is turning a blind eye deliberately to the brutal attacks against the Tamil Nadu fishermen''.
''I am pained to warn that by such betrayal, the UPA government is sowing the seeds of rancour, sadness and resentment in the minds of Tamils, which will result in disastrous consequences against the unity and integrity of India'', he said.
Citing reliable sources, Mr Vaiko said 265 Indian technocrats and military personnel were fully engaged and assisting the Sri Lankan military.
