SIMI activist remanded to police custody
Kolhapur, Sep 11 (UNI) A suspected SIMI activist Phaijul Mohammed Karim Sheikh, hailing from Bihar, was today remanded to police custody till september 18 by the Chandgad tehsil court.
Sheikh was nabbed by a special team yesterday when he was trying to plant an explosive near a dam in Chandgad tehsil, During a search, police seized some documents and an urdu newspaper from his house, police sources said adding his involvement in terrorist activities was being probed.
As per the investigations, it was revealed that he initially shifted to Naipani in the border town of Belgaum, then to Goa and Kolhapur, where he was staying in a rented room in the city's Takala locality, the sources added.
