Modi lays foundation stone for three flyovers in city
Ahmedabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today laid foundation stone for three flyovers, to be built as part of the ambitious Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said with half of the state population living in urban areas, rapid development of transport system was necessary.
He said the government would soon develop world's longest garden along the Khari Kut canal, near here.
The BRTS project, undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of Rs 96 crore, will be ready in 21 months.
The chief minister urged AMC to name one of the flyovers after General Sam Manekshaw, the hero of 1971 war with Pakistan.
Condemning terrorism, Mr Modi said that terrorists are enemies of mankind. He also alleged that Congress's vote bank politics has encouraged terrorist activities.
