Major quake hits Hokkaido in Japan
New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) A major quake, measuring 7.2 on richter scale, rattled Japan early today.
The 'great' intensity quake shook the Hokkaido region of the island nation at about 0551 hrs, according to the Meteorological department.
The epicentre of the tremor was situated at 42.1 degree north and 144.9 degree east, as per preliminary reports.
No reports of any casualty have been acknowledged so far, though injuries were inevitable in quakes of such magnitude which are designated as 'red', it added.
