Infy space-hit, sends 3000 recruits to Chennai
Pune, Sep 11: Infosys Technologies has planned to send 3,000 of the company's new recruits to Chennai, a top official said on Wednesday, Sep 10.
The IT giant, which is currently engaged in expanding its Pune establishment at Hinjawadi through phase II, has taken the step following delay in completion of the new centre owing to an exodus of North Indian construction workers fleeing the city in the wake of the agitation by Raj Thackeray-led MNS in February, company's Director HR Mohandas Pai said.
In an informal interaction with reporters, Pai who visited the Infosys facility at Hinjawadi on Monday, said the construction work of phase II was six months behind the schedule and the additional staff was being adjusted and accommodated in different cities due to lack of sufficient space.
With the completion of phase II work in next two years, Pune Centre of Infosys will become its biggest campus with seating capacity for its staff crossing 30,000, company officials said.
Infosys which has invested Rs 1,050 crore in its Pune facility, will be pumping in an additional Rs 500 crore in 2008-09, Pai said, adding the company is also poised to make forays into Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) business.
