Infosys to rethink on investment in West Bengal
Bangalore, Sep 11: Infosys, which had threatened to 'rethink' about investment in West Bengal following agitation against Tata's Nano project in Singur, has now decided to reconsider its statement, Infosys Board member Mohandas Pai said on Thursdya, Sep 11.
Talking to newspersons after renewing Group Life Policy with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) here, he said ''We had just said that we may 'rethink' about investing in West Bengal, but recent statement by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was encouraging and we may reconsider our earlier statement''. For any company, safety of employees was very important for growth of economy, continuity and stability, he said. Replying to a question, he said decrease in oil prices in the international market has brought relief with inflation showing a downward trend.
''It is a good sign for Infosys's growth and stability leads to economic growth in the world.'' He said Infosys's outlook has not changed following the economic slowdown. Inflation was global phenomenon following an all-time high in oil prices but it did not affect Infosys's growth. ''However, we will wait for this Quarter result to comment further,'' he said.
