Dhumal urges PM to extend industrial package upto 2013
Shimla, Sep 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today requested the Central Government to extend the industrial package period upto 2013.
Mr Dhumal called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram at New Delhi today and requested them to initiate positive action in this regard.
The industrial package announced by the last NDA government is schedule to end in 2010.
He said that according to statistics released by Department of Industrial Promotion, the industrial investment in Himachal Pradesh during 2007-08 was Rs 3596 crore as compare to Rs 6350 crore in Haryana and Rs 10737 crore in Punjab.
He said that the neighbouring states are far ahead in terms of investment proposals.
There is a need for appropriate infrastructure like connectivity, power delivery system, land bank etc for setting up industries in the state, he said.
He said that state assembly has unanimously passed resolution to extend the industrial package upto 2013.
The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister had assured that they would take sympathetic view of the genuine demands of the state government and would provide all possible assistance to the state government.
