CCEA nod for common infrastructure facilities for 10 mega Food Parks

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for the implementaion of the scheme for creation of common infrastructure development relating to establishment of 10 Mega Food Parks in the first phase out of 30 mega food parks envisaged in the Eleventh Plan.

The pattern of assistance will be 50 per cent of the project cost in general areas and 75 per cent for the North East Region and difficult areas, subject to maximum of Rs 50 crores for creation of common infrastructure facilities.

The scheme will also enhance backward and forward linkages, with a total grant-in-aid of Rs 25 crore towards project management fees at five per cent of the grant, an official release said here.

The scheme of infrastructure development of food parks envisages to raise the level of processing, value addition and reduction of the wastage of perishables -- horticulture produce, livestock and marine dairy -- during the plan period to meet the targets envisaged in the Vision 2015 document of the Ministry of Food Processing.

"The scheme will help the food processing industry grow and realise its potential and also lead to greater share in the world food trade," the release said.
