CCEA approves Rs 500 crore scheme to counter left wing extremism
New Delhi, Sept 11 (UNI) In a bid to counter naxal menace, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the launch of a Centrally-sponsored scheme for Special Infrastructure in Leftwing Extremism-affected states in the Eleventh Plan at a cost of Rs 500 crore.
Under the new scheme, Rs 100 crore would be provided for 2008-09.
The scheme is aimed at adequately providing for crucial infrastructure requirements that are critical to the policing and security needs in the field but were not adequately or otherwise provided for in any of the existing schemes.
