Bharti Foundation contributes over Rs 3 crore for flood relief

Guwahati, Sep 11 (UNI) The Bharti Foundation, the philanthropy arm of Bharti Enterprises, has made a contribution of over Rs three crore to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the flood-affected areas in Assam and Bihar.

A Bharati Foundation release issued here today stated that the cheque was handed over to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh by Vice-Chairman of the company Rakesh Bharti Mittal.

''The recent floods in Assam and Bihar have affected millions of people and the devastation has been truly unfortunate. In this difficult moment for the affected people in the two states, Bharti Foundation would like to support the government's relief efforts by making a contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund,'' Mr Mittal said.

Thousands of employees from across the Bharti Group had volunteered to donate their one day's salary to support the efforts of the government in undertaking relief measures in the flood-affected areas.
