Advani, Deve Gowda, Chouthala greet Jaya

Chennai, Sept 11 (UNI) National leaders, including Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today greeted AIADMK General secretary J Jayalalithaa on her re-election as party General secretary for the sixth term.

A party release here said other national leaders, including former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal leader Om Prakash Chouthala and former Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptullah called Ms Jayalalithaa over phone and conveyed their greetings.

The greetings from the national leaders assumed significance in the wake of Ms Jayalalithaa's remarks that a bigger role awaits the AIADMK at the national level.

On getting unanimously re-elected yesterday, Ms Jayalalithaa told partymen that they should remain united as the party had a bright future both at the national and state level.

Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) General secretary Vaiko, National League state President M Basheer Ahmed, All India Moovender Munnetra Kazhagam President N Sethuraman, Social Justice party President K Jagaveerapandian and Farmers and Toilers Party leader Vettavalam K Manikandam were among the state leaders, who greeted Ms Jayalalithaa, the release added.
