Sabarimala temple opens for onam

Pathanamthitta, Sep 10 (UNI) The Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala opened today for 'Poojas' related to Onam celebration.

Melsanthi T K Krishnan Nampoothiri opened the sanctum sanctorum and lit the ceremonial lamps in the presence of Tantri Kantararu Rajeevaru.

An eight-day ''Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yajnam'', the first of its kind at Sabarimala Sannidhanam, will begin from tomorrow.

The temple will be closed after 'Athazha Pooja' on Spetember 14 marking the culmination of 'Poojas'' connected with ''Onam'' and will reopen on September 16 for 'Poojas' in the Malayalam month of 'Kanni'.
