Rizwanur case hearing adjourned till Friday

Kolkata, Sep 10 (UNI) A division bench of Calcutta High Court today adjourned the hearing on the appeals of three police officials and two others in connection with the Rizwanur case till Friday.

Ashok Todi, an industrialist, and four others moved appeals before the Court seeking a stay on the CBI filing a chargesheet against them in the Rizwanur case.

Seven people, including three police officials, Ashok Todi and Anil Saraogi, a close relative, have been indicted by the Court for abetting Rizwanur to commit suicide.

The appellants prayed before the Court for a stay on the CBI filing a chargesheet against them in the case.

The division bench, headed by Chief Justice S S Nijjar, granted their appeal and told the CBI not to issue a chargesheet against them till the hearing was concluded.

Rizwanur, a computer graphics teacher, had married Ashok Todi's daughter Priyanka against the industrialist's wishes following which he was allegedly mentally tortured by the police officials and compelled to commit suicide.
