Relief to Chahal withdrawn
Chandigarh, Sept 10 (UNI) Allowing the application of the Punjab government, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today withdrew the relief recently granted to B I S Chahal, ex media advisor to the former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh.
Justice S D Anand cancelled the relief given to Chahal that he would be given three working days' clear notice in case the petitioner was to be arrested or summoned by the Punjab government in connection with any case that might be registered in the future.
Taking objection to this relief, the Punjab government had sought its cancellation as it amounted to blanket bail, which according to apex court rulings, could not be given to an accused in a case that was yet to come into existence.
