Nine killed, 20 injured near Ambaji in Gujarat
Ambaji, Gujarat, Sep 10 (UNI) At least nine devotees were killed on the spot and 20 others injured seriously after a speeding truck rammed a tractor-trolly on Himmatnagar-Ambaji highway, near Malpur town, about 100 km from here, early today.
According to police sources, the incident took place at around 0130 hrs when the driver of a speeding truck did not notice the tractor and rammed into it, killing nine people on the spot, who were returning from the famous Ambaji Mata Mandir at Ambaji town.
In the collision, 20 others were injured who have been admitted to the civil hospital at Himmatnagar town. Condition of three is stated to be critical.
Of the nine dead, six were identified as Gokalbhai Barja, Madhubhai Barja, Sonabhai Narsingh Barja, Pankaj Barja alias Bhupendra, Nareshbhai Adatsingh Barja and Dhanabhai Tadvi, while the identity of three others is yet to be ascertained, the sources added.
