Minister to discuss on deputing teachers for voters' list work
Mangalore, Karnataka, Sep 10 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri today said he would hold discussions with the Election Commission (EC) on the issue of deputing teachers for revision of voters' list.
Speaking to the reporters at the inaugural of a seminar for teachers here, organized by the Ramakrishna Math, Mr Kageri said he had information about the Deputy Commissioner's instructions on deputing school teachers for the work despite the government's decision to the contrary.
On action against Christian educational institutions for remaining closed for a day recently to protest violence in Orissa against the community,the Minister said the government would take legal recourse.
Earlier, inaugurating the seminar, Mr Kageri said the State Government was committed to solve the problems of the teachers and was ready to positively respond to their demand for pay hike.
But the teachers should also reciprocate by discharging their duties with dedication to ensure quality education.
He also said there was an urgent need for creating public opinion for making changes to the existing education system.
