Basu's condition stable

Kolkata, Sep 10 (UNI) The condition of CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu was stated to be stable as doctors of a medical board examined him again at a city hospital today.

The 94-year-old former Chief Minister of West Bengal had suffered head injuries after a fall at his Indira Bhavan residence on Friday last and was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in his brain.

A ten-member medical board decided to get dissolved the blood clot with the help of medicine and not go for any immediate surgery considering the veteran leader's age.

The medical board decided to continue with the present course of monitoring and review it again tomorrow, a medical bulletin said.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat called on Mr.Basu at the hospital today. Earlier, Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had visited him.
