College teachers lauds govt. for social security scheme

Shillong, Sep 9 (UNI) The Meghalaya College Teachers' Association (MCTA) has lauded the initiative of the state government to implement social security scheme for the deficit grants-in-aid college teachers in the State.

In a statement issued here, the MCTA said this scheme has been a long pending demand of the teachers' community for which successive governments had failed to make any pragmatic success.

Welcoming the initiative, the association suggested that scope of coverage of such social security measures may be widened making it more inclusive so that the benefits are accrued to all the serving and retired teachers of the State.

Higher and Technical Education minister Manas Chaudhuri had recently announced that the government would implement social security scheme for the teachers of deficit grants-in-aid colleges of the state.
