Army JCO killed, five injured in Manipur
Imphal, Sept 9 (UNI) A Junior Commanding Officer (JCO) was killed, while two army personnel and three civilians were injured in two separate incidents today.
A JCO of the 9th Assam Rifles was killed and some others injured when they were ambushed by cadres of Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) at Singhat cemetery in Churachandpur district of Manipur today.
Lily Leima of the PLA claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, two 39th Assam Rifles personnel and three civilians, including a girl, were injured when a powerful bomb exploded at Chingmeirong at Imphal East.
Police said the army personnel were patrolling the area when the blast took place, adding the culprits behind the bomb attack were yet to be ascertained.
