Air safety officials begin inquiry into aircraft crash

Hyderabad, Sep 9 (UNI) Air Safety officials from the Director-General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi and Chennai, today started an inquiry into yesterday's aircraft crash atop a house in the heavily-populated Fatehnagar here, killing Flying instructor and a trainee pilot.

According to official sources, Samith Kumar from New Delhi and Dorai Raj from Chennai, who arrived in the city last night began their investigation after visiting the accident spot and interacting with officials and the people who witnessed the incident.

After carrying out a detailed investigation, they would submit the report to top DGCA officials in New Delhi, in a few days, the sources said.

Flying instructor Neeraj Jain, and a trainee pilot P Srinivas were killed and three injured, including a woman seriously, when the Cessna 152 aircraft of the Andhra Pradesh Flying Club crashed on a house after hitting an electric post in the thickly-populated Fatehnagar area yesterday.

The aircraft, which took off from Begumpet airstrip at about 1100 hrs pulled down power cables before crash landing, killing the trainee pilot, hailing from Sainkpuri area in the city, on the spot, while the instructor from New Delhi, succumbed to injuries on way to the Gandhi Medical College hopital.
