Chinese candles threaten local wax industry

Nainital, September 8, 2008 : Indian candles are not burning that bright now, thanks to the cheap Chinese candles flooding the markets. Nainital has been famous for its exquisite and beautiful candles for decades.

But the cheap and attractive Chinese candles have now taken over the entire market, affecting business of the homemade candles badly. Another reason cited by the manufacturers for the popularity of Chinese candles is the fact that they are better colored compared to the Indian variety.
