Sugar prices ease on larger stock arrival
Navi Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices today eased by Rs 25 at Rs 1,780 per quintal on sustained large stock arrivals from mills and poor demand by bulk consumers, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association (BSMA) said.
Prices of small and medium grades sugar crashed by Rs 25 and Rs 15 per quintal respectively on sluggish demand from sweetmakers in the face of higher stock supply by mills, traders said.
In ex-mill grade, small and medium grades dropped by Rs 30 each amidst sustained heavy offloading by local dealers, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,781/1,840, medium grade: Rs 1,821/1,920, Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,750/1,765 and medium grade: Rs 1,780/1,850.
