Stray dog menace: Schools closed for three days
Sambalpur, Sep 8 (UNI) The district administration has closed all schools and colleges for three days in Bamra areas, in the wake of a menace posed by stray dogs.
Sambalpur District Collector Pradipta Kumar Patnaik said as a precautionary measure, the educational institutions were closed after 60 people, including 17 students, were bitten by stray dogs during the past five days.
As a result, people preferred remaining inside their residents than braving the aberrant dogs.
Mr Patnaik said an experienced squad from Kuchinda NAC and Sambalpur Municipality had been deployed at Bamra to capture dogs with abnormal behaviour, adding the Kuchinda Sub-Collector was camping in the area and monitoring the entire operation.
Meanwhile, the victims, including the students, were administered with anti-rabbies injections, Sambalpur Chief District Medical Officer Dr P K Nayak informed.
