Select seeds, edible oils down on poor demand

Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) Prices of key seeds and edible oils, including palmolein and sunflower refined, today drifted lower on thin demand from bulk consumers in wake of larger stock arrivals from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and some southern regions, traders at the Bombay Commodity Exchange said.

In oils (per kg) Groundnut raw, palmolein and sunflower dropped by Rs 15, Rs five and Rs three respectively on sluggish demand from bulk consumers and retailers at the terminal centres.

Similarly, linseed and rapeseed eased by Rs ten each on sustained heavy offers by stock holders in the face of surplus stocks at the markets.

In seeds (per quintal), groudnut kernal, sesameseed whitish and nigerseed varieties declined by Rs 75, Rs 200 and Rs 100 respectively owing to bumper crop season at the producing centres like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and some parts of southern regions.

However, all de-oiled cakes remained steady, traders added.
