Rupee is stronger at 44.18/19 per USD

Mumbai, Sep 8: The Rupee came off the 21-month low on Monday, Sep 8 and was trading firm against the US Dollar at 44.18/19 in the opening trade following a sharp recovery in the stock market.

Rupee strengthened over one per cent or 46 paise from its previous close of 44.64/65 per dollar, boosted by hopes for capital inflows, after India overcame a hurdle for a civilian nuclear deal with the United States and a rally in local stocks, dealers said.
