Priya welcomes end of Singur impasse

Kolkata, Sep 8 (UNI) Information and Broadcasting Minister and Bengal Congress president Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today welcomed ending of the Singur impasse.

Expressing satisfaction over the issue, Mr Dasmunsi said '' We are happy with the development. We desire that industrialisation should not be discouraged at any point, but at the same time the interest of the farmers should be protected.'' '' If the state government would have been serious enough to understand the interest of the farmers, things would have been taken in a better direction long back,'' he said.

'' We thank the Governor for his initiatives though he did not involve other political parties. But Congress is happy that farmers' interest has been protected through dialogue,'' Mr Dasmunsi maintained.
