Foreign currency seized from Polish national

Chennai, Sep 8: Airport Police yesterday arrested a Polish national who carried foreign currency bundles worth nearly 45 lakh in his suitcase.

Police said here today Beoderrick (41) came to the Anna International Airport to board an Indian Airlines flight to Singapore at 1425 hrs.

On suspicion he could be a smuggler, the Customs checked his baggage to find US Dollar and Euro currency wads in his suitcase for which he could not offer a proper explanation.

The foreign currency, worth Rs 44.80 lakh, was seized and Beoderrick arrested. He had come to India on a tourist visa.
