NERUDP to be implemented in Aizawl soon
Aizawl, Sep 8(UNI) The North-Eastern Region Urban Development Project (NERUDP) would soon be implemented here, first among the Northeast states' capital, official sources said today.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded project would cover the eight NE states' capitals including Dibrugarh in Assam and would be implemented in two phases, the sources said.
USD 350 has been earmarked for the first phase of which Aizawl would get Rs 298.58 crores. A three-tier committee has been set up to monitor the project here.
Under the project, the ADB would fund sub projects in six sectors to achieve sustainable urban development and poverty alleviation.
These were water supply, sanitation and sewerage, solid waste management, drainage and landslip protection, roads and street lighting and community upgradation, the sources added.
