Haryana govt committed to welfare of teachers:Gupta
Chandigarh, Sep 8 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta today said the state government has taken a number of initiatives for the welfare of teaching community and those trying to malign the image of the government in the eyes of teachers, were simply misleading them.
In a statement issued here today, the Education Minister said that the present state government had enhanced by 30 per cent the fixed rate of honorarium admissible to Guest Teachers engaged on Guest Faculty Basis in Government schools with effect from November 1, 2007.
He said that they had been given the facility of festival leave like August 15, January 26 and one casual leave per month. All guest teachers had been adjusted till now. No other genuine demand except regularisation of their services was pending with the department.
The Education Minister said that he was in a deep shock on hearing of the tragic death of a teacher in the agitation in Rohtak yesterday. He said some anti-social elements were behind this unfortunate incident and they would not succeed in further disturbing peace in the state.
Mr Gupta described the employees as the back bone of the administration and said that the state government was fully safeguarding the interests of all its employees.
