New marketing stratergy by GM India

New Delhi, Sep 8: General Motors (GM) India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based General Motors Corporation, on Monday, Sep 8 said it has created a new marketing entity for sales and distribution of vehicles in the country.

''With GM's operations in India expanding significantly in size and scale, it has become necessary to bring greater focus and efficiency to selling and distributing our products and services,'' company Vice President P Balendran said in a statement. The creation of the new entity, General Motors (India) Marketing Private Ltd, is a part of restructuring and realignment of corporate structure, the statement said.

All manufacturing activities will remain with General Motors India.

GM India's network includes 122 sales points and 129 service outlets across the country.

''The company intends to put in place at least 145 sales points and 160 service outlets by this year end,'' it added.

Under the Chevrolet brand, the company manufactures Tavera, Optra, Aveo, Aveo U-VA, SRV, Spark and Captiva for the Indian market.
