Father, son held for cheating people in MP

Jabalpur, Sep 8: A youth, who impersonated as a prominent functionary of a co-operative society alongwith his father, cheated several people on the promise of providing loans and both were arrested Ranji area here, police said on Monday, Sep 8.

Acting on a complaint of Lalmati-resident Shanakar Vanshkar, police arrested Ajay Kumar and his father Lokram Kumar.

He alleged that Ajay impersonated himself as president of Jaibheem Sahkari Sanstha Maryadit's Panagar branch. Ajay lured people by promising to provide quick loans.

Lokram took responsibility for loan sanction. The duo charged Rs 350 as membership fee and margin money of Rs 1,500 from every applicant.

People deposited the amount but did not receive loan and later they approached the society's main office and came to know that the said branch office was closed and accused were absconding.

The main office denied of receiving any loan application form, police added.
