Christians take out massive march

Kakinada, Sep 8 (UNI) Thousands of Christians in East Godavari district marched through the main streets of this port city today, braving inclement weather, to protest against the continued onslaught and carnage against the Christians in Kandhamal and other districts of Orissa.

The peace march organised under the aegis of Kakinada Christian Community and led by Rev Yelchuri Paparao Director, Missions to the Nations gathered in front of the Collectorate.

Later, a delegation of Christian pastors comprising Yelchuri Paparao, Dr Joseph Benny, M Timothy, P N Yesupadam and G Nehemiah called on the Joint Collector K Sasidhar at his chambers and submitted a memorandum seeking Central Government's intervention to restore peace and communal harmony in Orissa.
