Adult educators honoured on World Literacy Day

Chandigarh, Sep 8 (UNI) Indian Council For Child Welfare, Jean Rodrigues today distributed prizes to best 'Preraks' and Nodal Preraks (educators)for the year 2008, on the occasion of 'International Literacy Day', organised by Adult Education Unit here.

Adult Education Unit imparts academic and vocational guidance to learners of the age group 15-35 years from weaker sections of society in around 300 Continuing Education Centers under the 'Continuing Education and Income Generating Programs' of National Literacy Mission.

Mrs Rodrigues also distributed sewing machines to 200 centers engaged in teeaching stitching work.

The main objective of the program was to create awareness and motivation for Adult Education and to boost the morale and confidence in the learners. A cultural programme and competitions were also held on the occasion.
