Shankarachrya criticises attack on ''Saint''

Varanasi, Sep 7 (UNI) Kashi Sumerupeethadheeshwar Shankarachrya Narendrananad Saraswati has condemned the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Gorakshpeeth's successor Yogi Adityanath's convoy today.

'' It is an attack upon a Saint and not just an MP...it would not be tolerated at any cost,'' Mr Saraswati said in a statement here.

It was a pre-planned move, he said, demanding the culprits should be apprehended as soon as possible.

The state government should also take effective steps, so that such acts were not repeated, Mr Saraswati demanded.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Varanasi S N Sawant said security has been increased in the holy city to avoid any untoward incident.

Posse of police and PAC have also left for Azamgarh from Varanasi, Mr Sawant informed.
