Assam floods create power crisis in Nagaland

Kohima, Sep 7: Following the shut down of Ranganadi hydro- project by the Powergrid due to flood in Assam, people in Nagaland were facing acute shortage of power supply leading to load-shedding throughout the state. Chief Engineer, Electricity department here today said as a result of the shut down of 400 KV transmission line, the state is facing power crisis.

He said there is requirement of at least 90 MW power in the peak hours and 45 MW in off-peak hours but the state was getting only 36 and 30 MW respectively.
