Jyoti Basu admitted to hospital
Kolkata, Sep 7 (UNI) Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu was today admitted to a city hospital following an injury he sustained at his home yesterday.
A close aide of the CPI(M) patriarch said Mr Basu may have to undergo a surgery.
The nonagenarian leader injured his head after a fall at his residence and was given a couple of stitches.
He underwent a CT scan at a private hospital near his residence in Indra Bhawan in the Salt Lake area.
Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee visited him yesterday.
Hospital sources said a medical board, headed by veteran doctor Mani Chhetri, had been constituted for Mr Basu's treatment.
