Five drown in flood water in Bihar
Madhepura, Sep 7 (UNI) Five people were swept away by the flood water of the turbulent Kosi at different places in Madhepura district today.
Police said three people met their watery grave at Kumarkhand block while one each was washed away in the high current of the flood water in Bihariganj and Gwalpada blocks. The victims included a woman and a child.
All the five people drowned when they were trying to cross the flooded areas to reach the nearby relief camps.
Meanwhile, another report from the district said sub-divisional officer of Udakishunganj D D Pandey nabbed the mukhiya of Khera panchayat for hoarding 14 quintals of rice meant for distribution among the flood victims.
The report further said a block extension officer of Gamahriya and two panchayat secretaries of a panchayat under the same block were suspended for negligence in relief and rescue operation.
