Sugar prices down by Rs 30
Navi Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices fell by Rs 30 to be at Rs 1,795 per quintal from its previous close following the release of large quota of free sale sugar and poor demand by bulk consumers, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association (BSMA) said.
Prices of small and medium grades plummeted again by Rs 30 and Rs 35 per quintal respectively on sluggish demand from sweet-makers in the face of higher stocks supply by mills, traders said.
In ex-mill grade, small grade was quoted below Rs 1,800 at Rs 1,770, with a big loss of Rs 10 for small grade. Similarly, medium grade eased by 20 to be at Rs 1,800 per quintal amidst sustained heavy offloading by local dealers, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,795/1,850, medium grade: Rs 1,840/1,930, Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,770/1,800 and medium grade: Rs 1,800/1,860.
