New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) After a humid and sultry day, Delhiites today experienced a pleasant evening which ended in light to heavy rain in several parts of the city.
The weather office said rains were likely to continue for some more days.
The sudden thunderstorm followed by rain was mainly due to sudden pressure in the north west areas which caused depression, according to the met office.
Although the whole week experienced hot and humid condition, leading to sultry weather althrough the day, the sudden showers short down tempratures by nearly 4 degree celcius.
Predicting a cooler in pleasant weekend, the weather office said rain and windy conditions were likely to continue for another two days.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, roaring winds lashed homes and streets, and uprooting trees.
About an hour of light to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning while bringing respite to the common man also brought problems--like water logging, drains choking and traffic jams-- in the open.
However, the met office also said strong rain and high speed winds were unlikely to hit the city in the next two days.
