NCP suspends Thane corporator Pratap Sarnaik
Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) NCP in Maharashtra today suspended Pratap Sarnaik, a corporator in Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), from the party for allegedly making public statements against Thane district party chief Jitendra Avad, who is a close confidant of party chief Sharad Pawar.
Mr Sarnaik was suspended by state party unit president Arun Gujarathi today after he declined to express regret over his statements in a letter to Mr Pawar. On August 29, the party had served a notice regarding this.
Incidentally, Mr Sarnaik was in the news after he bought a diamond-studded mobile phone for Rs 15 lakh in an auction conducted by the Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi and gifted it to state water resources minister Ajit Pawar, who is a nephew of Mr Pawar.
However, Ajit Pawar returned the mobile phone to the temple after keeping it with him for a couple of days.
