MP Cong ''opens front'' against Minister

Bhopal, Sep 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress has submitted four corruption-related complaints against state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Akhand Pratap Singh with the Lokayukt and demanded his resignation.

Talking to reporters here, state Congress Spokesperson K K Mishra requested Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to expel Mr Singh in case he did not resign.

Earlier, Mr Mishra submitted complaints against Mr Singh for accepting bribe for resolving matters related to a petrol pump owner in Bhopal and a kerosene dealer in Rajgarh, extorting illegal money in Tikamgarh and accepting bribe from another person in Tikamgarh.

He demanded registering a case against the minister under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the minister's office, it was alleged that the charges had been motivated by former Food department Secretary K P Singh, who was a Congress supporter and against whom the minister had initiated criminal cases. He had opened front against the minister to divert attention from charges against him, it alleged.
