Kerala to make e-filing compulsory for traders
Kozhikode, Sep 6 (UNI) Aimed at increasing the tax revenue, the Kerala Government will make e-filing mandatory for traders in the state from next fiscal, Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac said today.
Talking to newspersons after a review meeting of Sales Tax officers here, he said the decision was taken after a meeting with trade leaders in the state.
By this move, the state government hopes to increase its tax collection to 30 per cent from the present 20 per cent, he added.
For its easy implementation, the trading community would have to prepare their tax returns in a computer from April 2009, he said, adding those who do not have access to computers could approach 'Akshaya e-learning centres' in the state, for the purpose.
The government proposed to give accreditation to such centres in the state, he added.
