Egg hurled at Jain Sadhwi
Guna, MP, Sep 6 (UNI) Irate members of the Jain community today resorted to blockade of the Agra-Mumbai national highway at Binaganj in this district of Madhya Pradesh after an unidentified motorcyclist allegedly hurled an egg over a group of Jain Sadhwis.
A group of 11 Jain Sadhwis, disciples of prominent Jain saint Vidya Sagar, were on their way to the temple when the motorcyclist threw an egg aat them which fell on the feet of a Sadhwi.
The motorcyclist then fled the spot.
Agitated over the incident, community members started road blockade demanding action against the motorcyclist, who are yet to be identified.
Tens of hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the highway, which passes through the heart of the Binaganj town. Immediately after the incident, members of the Jain community downed their shutters and joined the dharna on the highway.
Few people also resorted to stone throwing causing damage to few vehicles at Binaganj where the Sadhwis were observing the 'Chaturmas'.
Jain community members were observing 'Hartal' at Ashok Nagar, Guna, Vidisha, Sagar and other places in Madhya Pradesh to protest, according to Guna-based Jain Community President Dharmendra Jain.
