Vishal Yadav appeals in High Court
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Vishal Yadav, nephew of former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav, co-accused in the Nitish Katara murder case, today appealed against his conviction in Delhi High Court.
Additional Sessions Judge, on May 30, had sentenced Vishal and his cousin Vikas Yadav to life imprisionment for the murder of Nitish Katara, son of a senior IAS officer. The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 1.6 lakh on the two convicts.
Vikas, son of Mr D P Yadav, was against the relationship of Nitish with his sister Bharati Yadav. He along with Vishal had allegedly kidnapped Nitish on the night of February 16, 2002 from a wedding party in Ghaziabad and later murdered him.
The city court, after six years of trial, had pronounced them guilty in the case.
Vishal has now approached the High Court, claiming that he had no role in the offence.
