UP police issues circular to check moneylenders' activities
Lucknow, Sep 5 (UNI) Acting tough against money lenders in the state, Uttar Pradesh police today issued a circular asking all districts to put a spanner on the activities of such money lenders minting money from the poor.
State Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh in his circular said now the new Money Lender Act had made violation of the law a congizable offence and people harassing the poor should be punished under section 384 of the IPC which relates to extortion.
UP Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal here said the directives sent to all the 71 districts asked police to keep a check on all the offices of the local bodies, railways and other offices particularly on the salary day so that the fourth class employees were spared from harassment.
