Heroin worth Rs 2.8 cr seized from air passenger

Chennai, Sep 5 (UNI) Air Customs officials seized 2.8 kg of heroin worth Rs 2.80 crore in the international market from a Thailand-bound woman passenger at the Anna International airport early here today.

Airport sources said the Customs officials, on suspicion, checked the baggage of Bhuong (40), a tourist from Vietnam, when she was about to board the Thai Airways flight to Bangkok at 0230 hrs.

The drug, stuffed in three parcels and wrapped with black carbon paper, were concealed in the false bottom of the baggage of the passenger.

The officials seized the narcotic substance and arrested her.
