College lecturers to get Class-I status
Chandigarh, Sep 5: College lecturers getting pay scale of Rs 10,000 and above would be given Class-I status and the outstanding college lecturers in the field of education would also be honoured with the State Teachers Award with effect from the next year.
The State Teacher Awardees who were given two increments for five years earlier would now be given these increments till their remaining service and the same facility would also be extended to the National Teacher Awardees.
The facility of Dearness Allowance (DA) on these increments would also be given to these Awardee Teachers.
This was announced by the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on the occasion of the State Teacher Award Distribution Function held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here on Friday, Sep 5.
Haryana Governor A R Kidwai and the Chief Minister honoured 66 teachers with State Teacher Awards for their excellent performance in the field of education.
This Awards include a cash Award of Rs 11,000, a silver medal, a commendation certificate and a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said the teachers played an important role in shaping the destiny of the nation.
''Our teachers have the onerous responsibility of not only roviding good education to the students with a scientific temperament but also wean them away from ignorance,'' he said.
Dr Kidwai also congratulated the state government for introducing a number of new and modern educational programmes such as Semester System, Edusat System, Computer Technology, project based learning system and new work books with a view to bringing a revolution in the field of education.
Mr Hooda said keeping in view the importance of education state government has enhanced its budget for education to Rs 3400 crore during the current financial year as against Rs 1530 crore in the year 2004-05.
