UP Traders to launch agitation against state government

Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Uyodog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal,a traders organisation affiliated to the Samajwadi Party, today announced to hold state-wide demonstration on September 10 demanding withdrawal of Harijan Act, VAT and harrassment of the traders.

The traders during the agitation would also submit a memorandum to the state government to immediately solve their problem.

Addressing a press conference here, Mandal's president and Rajya Sabha member Banwari Lal Kanchal said the present state government had done nothing to solve the traders problem with corruption at its extreme.

Mr Kanchal, who won for the second term in the mandal along with his team in the election held at Allahabad last week, said that the power crisis in the state was another problem for the traders on which the government was least concerned.

'' The implementation of VAT and introduction of Inspector Raj had increased corruption in the state'', he said adding that both issues should be addressed by the government immediately.
