UP Guv, CM greet people on Teacher's Day

Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar and Chief Minister Mayawati greeted all the teachers of the state on the eve of Teacher's Day.

In a message, Mr Rajeswar said the teachers should maintain the tradition of Guru-Shishya and extend all efforts in developing the career of the children.

Giving her heartfelt felicitations to teachers on the occasion, Ms Mayawati, who herself was a teacher, said they were torch bearers of society and country.

They play an important role in shaping the destiny of future generation, besides, developing the qualities of patriotism, social harmony, discipline, morality and good character in students that help them in becoming an ideal citizen, the note added.

Informing that her government has taken several important steps for qualitative change in education sector, she said expansion of education was the need of the hour.

The teachers should discharge their duties with commitment, which would be a real tribute to former President and educationist Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the CM's greet message stated.
