TN Govt to establish exclusive walking zones
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Transport Minister K N Nhru today said the state government had decided to establish exclusive walking zone near the Anna stadium and at a few other places in the city for the benefit of the morning walkers.
Speaking after inagurating a five-day exhibition on diabetes, hypertension and health related matters organised by the city based Indhira Seshadiri Diabetes and hypertension centre here, Mr Nhru said the present food habits in the society was one of the main reason for the increasing trend of diabetes.
He underlined the need for the people to undertake regular exercise.
Managing Director of the centre Dr N S Prasad said the main objective for the exhibition was to create an awareness among the people about the diabetes, besides to suggest ways and means for preventing the desease.
